Hi all,

I'm trying to install a japanese IO DATA 160GB IEE1394 HD, it was
detected the first time I plugged it in but once I tried to create any
partition it went offline (here is the piece of dmesg):

After the next reboot the disk wasn't detected, I had this log in dmesg:

ieee1394: Host added: ID:BUS[0-00:1023] GUID[0000000000000000]
ieee1394: ConfigROM quadlet transaction error for node 0-01:1023
ieee1394: The root node is not cycle master capable; selecting a new
root node and resetting...

By the way I'm running Mandrake 10.0 in a compaq armada M300 with
kernel 2.6.8.1 , the lspci command shows this about my ieee1394 PCMCIA
controller:

01:00.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Lucent Microelectronics FW323 (rev 04)

Any idea?

I've run into similiar output in some of my tests. Have you completely
removed all power to the enclosure (including disconnecting 6-pin
firewire cables) and completely powered off the PC? If not, I would
give it a try.

Tried, still not detected, looking into /var/log/messages I've got
this line when I plug it in:

kernel: ieee1394: Error parsing configrom for node 0-00:1023
